Welcome Friends, Guests, and Rotarians to the Rotary Club of New London.
We are a club that was chartered in April 1917. We celebrated our centennial in 2017 with a project to re-build the pavilion at Ocean Beach Park in New London.
We are a club that includes individuals that want to give back to their community. That community can be New London, Eastern Connecticut, the state of Connecticut and beyond.
We are a club that is a member of Rotary International, a network that connects 1.2 million Rotarians in 33,000 clubs on six continents around the world. Rotary clubs bring together dedicated individuals to exchange ideas, build relationships, and take action to make a positive impact in the community both locally and globally. In Rotary, we know that we can do more together than we could ever hope to do alone.
Some of our local projects include the Playground at Toby May Field, the Rotary Pavilion at Ocean Beach Park, Little Free Libraries located around New London, Student of the Year recognition in the New London schools, dictionary project, Turkey Drive, and service at the Community Meal Center in New London, to name a few.
Founder, Paul Harris, along with a small group of businessmen in the Chicago area started Rotary more than 115 years ago. Since then, Rotary has grown into an international humanitarian organization with 1.2 million members in 33,000 clubs in over 200 countries. Rotary has led the way to eradicate Polio, feed the hungry, provide clean water and bring peace to the world. You can learn about history of Rotary by going to www.rotary.org.
“SERVICE ABOVE SELF”, the motto of Rotary International and every Rotary club through the world. It’s the driving force that makes Rotary one of the largest and most important service organizations in the world.
Our club offers multiple opportunities to serve the club, community and the world through our various committees. Whether you are interested in the environment, youth services, music, technology, marketing and public relations, helping the less fortunate, social events or world community service, we have a committee that fits your passion.
I have been a New London Rotarian for over 20 years and have loved making the connections in the community I have been able to make through our Rotary club. I welcome you to join us any Thursday for our meeting and see what is going on in our club.
All the best,
